New Work Hardening Area
Posted on March 28th, 2013
Since December 17, 2012, RIW has been treating Work Hardening patients in our new, dedicated treatment facility. The 6,000 square foot space can accommodate multiple patients working on individualized work simulation activities, and supplements our existing 8,000 square feet of gym treatment space. The room also allows us to provide a safe and spacious environment for a variety of job-related tasks, such as carpentry, plumbing, material handling, computer activities, and virtually any simulation of a job task.
Our Work Hardening Program includes intensive conditioning to help workers develop the strength and endurance to perform a full time job. It also promotes worker responsibility and self-management and provides for the assessment of the need for job modifications if appropriate. Workers are educated on safe body mechanics, work pacing, safety, and injury prevention. Worker input and careful review of the worker’s job analysis will be used to determine return to work goals.
The possibilities are endless in our new Work Hardening space. We are always available to answer any questions about our programs and treatment options. Please call 206-859-5030 for any general inquiries or to arrange a tour of our facility. For new referrals, please contact David Kidder at 206-859-5036.
