About Us

The Rehabilitation Institute of Washington is a multidisciplinary clinic for pain management and brain injury rehabilitation.  We provide comprehensive rehabilitation services for those with chronic pain, brain injury/concussion, and other difficulties resulting from industrial injuries, non-work injuries or illness.  We provide rehabilitation for brain injury, concussion, low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, other musculoskeletal injuries, neuropathic pain, and complex regional pain syndrome.

History »

The RIW team, including rehabilitation medicine physicians, pain psychologists, physical and occupational therapists, vocational counselors, and administrative staff, moved the CARF accredited Pain Management Program to RIW from Virginia Mason Medical Center in 2005. We continue to offer this successful program and a broad range of rehabilitation services for injured workers and others with chronic pain and disability. In addition, we have added additional therapy staff, an occupational medicine physician, a physician assistant, neuropsychologists, psychometrists, speech language pathologists and medical assistants, and we developed a very successful CARF-accredited Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program. We also added Work Rehabilitation Programs (Work Conditioning and Work Hardening), and a Concussion Clinic for sports injuries, MVAs, assaults, on-the-job injuries, or other types of head injury. The Rehabilitation Institute of Washington is a multidisciplinary rehabilitation program for chronic pain, disability and a variety of musculoskeletal problems. Our dedicated team was formerly based at Virginia Mason Medical Center, where for many years we provided valued comprehensive pain management services. When Virginia Mason decided to discontinue those services, we established RIW in order to continue the programs we worked long and hard to develop, and to which we are deeply committed. Read More »
