About Us

The Rehabilitation Institute of Washington is a mutlidisciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals dedicated to helping individuals with chronic pain and physical limitations return to active and functional lifestyles. A team of physicians, psychologists, physical and occupational therapists, and vocational rehabilitation counselors assists patients to return to work and to a higher quality of life.
History
RIW started in 2005 as a response to changes at Virginia Mason Medical Center. When Virginia Mason decided to stop providing services of the Pain Management Program, the CARF accredited program was moved to RIW in September 2005. Many of the team operating the program at Virginia Mason moved to RIW to continue in this successful program, and in the development of a broad range of rehabilitation services. Many of our referral sources and patients encouraged us to continue providing needed multidisciplinary rehabilitation services, and supported the transition of the program.
RIW employees, partners in our success, vigorously uphold our mission statement and our high standard of care. Our customers have responded tremendously and their support of our commitment has enabled RIW to continue our operation in a new facility. With the entire staff of RIW sharing our vision of the highest quality rehabilitation and unparalleled customer service, we are headed for greater success.
Our mission statement:
At RIW, we pledge to provide the highest quality rehabilitation possible to assist our patients to maximize function in all areas of life; physical, emotional, occupational, recreational and social, and to provide unparalleled customer service as we strive to gain the respect and trust of our patients, referral sources and payers of services.
